Massage Therapy Students

Some of the information massage therapy students get about careers are that they can become cruise ship or spa resort massage therapists.

Working on a cruise ship sounds exciting, out on the open sea with the warm sun kissing the deck of the ship and lots of new and interesting people to meet and all sorts of ship activities and new cities and beaches to explore.

But, when reality sets in, your JOB is not a life of leisure aboard ship. You will be giving relaxing massages all day long to passengers who want to be pampered. You will provide relief from overworked muscles on tourists. Ship activities and ports of call will be at a minimum for you. Disappointing, yet this job does have its perks.

At the resort spas, pretty much the same thing. Clients who pay that much money expect to be treated very well and some will verbally abuse you as the "hired working class". Humiliating but if you answer back, guess who the management will side with?

Therefore, you must be good-natured and take everything said to you with a grain of salt. Just keep thinking that the troublesome client will not stay for very long. Try to be as friendly and helpful as well as respectful as possible and you may be rewarded with some wonderful tips.
