Massage Therapy For Depression

Massage therapy for depression and anxiety can be a real help for clients suffering from this condition. Depression is basically a state of mind where your emotions go from sadness to despair to hopelessness.

We all experience bouts of depression from time to time. You have a hard time getting out of bed and going to work. You don't want to eat or do any of the normal activities that you usually enjoy. Something is wrong and you feel totally out of balance, but you can't quite put your finger on it.Maybe you lost your job, your best friend, or a family member. During this economic turn down, many have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. Some look for many months before finding any work at all, and then the pay is usually much less than what we were earning before. Foreclosures on homes are happening all over our country. Perhaps you finally figured out that the one you thought was the love of your life just used you and then dumped you before you knew what hit you.

You are sad, grief-stricken. The emotional pain is almost too much to bear. You cry all the time. You don't want to be around your spouse and your children. You have overwhelming feelings of despair and everything seems hopeless. Chronic pain can also cause this to occur. Occasionally, this happens to all of us.

Slowly, over time, you begin to bounce back. At least most of us do. Some of us have a more serious version of this condition and cannot bounce back without help. When that happens, we need to see a physician for direction. They may prescribe medication and/or counseling.

The good news is that this condition can be decreased by massage therapy. It increases the body's levels of dopamine and seratonin which naturally decrease depression.

Massage therapy for depression increases circulation and this helps medication to be absorbed. It also relaxes the client and helps to take away emotional stress.
