Massage Therapy Classes

You will learn how to give a massage during the hands-on portion of your massage therapy classes. Even if you have never before given a massage, you will become good at it during class.

Practice over and over and in time, you will be able to give a professional massage. This will require a good deal more practice than what you will get in the classroom. When you go home, practice your new massage strokes on your husband, wife, children, other family members, friends, anyone who will allow you to use them as your "guinea pig."

At school, you will massage other students on the massage tables set up at the school. Always adjust the legs of the table to fit your body size. Do this before your client gets on the table. The legs have adjustable heights. Remember which hole in the leg the table should be adjusted to and then you should be able to reach your client comfortably without straining your arms.

It is best if you order your massage table early on so your practice clients can be on a real massage table instead of the kitchen table or a bed. I even used the floor when i was in school until I bought my massage table. Make sure you drape your pretend clients just like you are taught at massage school. You will be tested on draping at school and also when you go to get your stat massage license.

You will learn new massage strokes and techniques each time you go to a hands-on or practical class, enabling you to know how to give a massage on a particular body part. Whenever your instructor feels that you have mastered one body part, he/she will teach you strokes and techniques on the next body part.
